Birds seen in SA (Feb 2014)

A few birds seen on our travels around South Africa this holiday and also from a comfortable seat in my Marquard garden.
Egyptian Goose over the Mooi River, Kwa-Zulu Natal
 Amur Falcon near Bergville, Drakensberg

Blue Crane on Oliviershoek Pass, border between Kwa-Zulu Natal and the Free State Province

Cape Rock Thrush on Oliviershoek Pass

Crowned Lapwing on Marquard Golf Course
Common Fiscal Juvenile, my Marquard garden

A Red-eyed Bulbul with a nest of two babies in a rose bush nearby

Southern Masked Weaver building nests in my Marquard garden. Last night there seemed to be an interested female nearby
Malachite Sunbird in my Marquard garden

I'm linking this week's SA birds to Wild Bird Wednesday which is hosted by Stewart Monkton. Please visit his blog to view the most amazing images of birds in his country by clicking here

I trust you're all having a great week this far. We're on our way back to Tanzania tomorrow morning early, arriving home in Mwadui on Friday.

It's just delightful to see all your little birds. I've been out of touch for a while, but will stop in again soon...:)

  6. The Egyptian goose is a treat as are all the other colourful birds of your area. I would love to watch a weaver bird building a nest or that wonderful sunbird flashing among the leaves. I always find cranes to be rather mysterious birds and the thrush is a darling too.
Thanks Jo for showing us that which we cannot see for ourselves. Although there are many birds that visit many parts of the world, it is the specific regional ones that i find so very special.
Have a good flight back to your second home.
